Well caisson
What is the caisson used for?
At the very beginning of its existence, the caisson was used to carry out work under water. Therefore, at one time the caisson was in the form of a round or square waterproof chamber.
As for today, such technical characteristics as water resistance have remained the same. However, many variations in applications of caissons have emerged. For example, autonomous water supply and distribution to the house. That is, if you plan to install a well on the territory of a house or cottage, it is not possible to organize the distribution of a water supply system without a caisson.
Thanks to the absolute tightness, the wellhead is completely protected from groundwater. It is this factor that is very important in installing a well, because one day you may see in the tap not clean, transparent water, but a liquid of unknown color. This often happens when other contaminated streams enter drinking water.
The fact is that at the very end the well casing is not on the ground surface, but underground (1.2 m), and it is here that groundwater can often be “found”. It is also worth considering that in the cold season the average depth of ground freezing becomes 0.8-1.2 m. Thus, installing a plastic caisson on a well not only protects drinking water from contamination, but also protects the equipment as a whole from damage due to freezing.
What is a caisson
A caisson is, in fact, a barrel made of iron, or a box of the same material, equipped with a neck. There is a hatch on top of the neck, which is closed with a lid. To increase reliability, the hatch cover is insulated in the form of foam plastic.
Mplast LLC offers high-quality plastic caisson, the elements of which are made on the basis of primary polyethylene using the rotational molding method. All this facilitates the transportation of equipment to the required location, as well as its further installation.
Polyethylene is a material that does not rot and also does not lend itself to other chemical processes.
Polyethylene products are durable, lightweight and easy to install.
Advantages of plastic caisson
- Sealed design with light weight.
-
Long service life.
-
Resistance to both chemical and corrosive processes.
-
A more affordable price when compared to similar products made of metal or reinforced concrete.
-
Equipment installation costs are minimal.
Installation of caisson
-
The pit must have dimensions exceeding the dimensions of the caisson by 200 mm in depth and in diameter by at least the same amount.
-
The lower part is used for marking, as well as preparing a technological hole for the well string.
-
The lower part of the caisson is installed on the bottom of the pit, and the casing pipe must enter the hole located at the bottom of the caisson.
-
The process of sealing the casing is carried out to connect it to the water supply.
-
According to the project, the total height of the chamber is increased.
-
The caisson is backfilled with soil, which is well compacted every 200mm. Sometimes backfilling a well requires a special mixture of sand and cement 5:1.
